Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for an “aid and attendance benefit”  the Veteran must have:

1) 90-days or more of active military service, with at least one day of this service during a period of war. 

World War II  - Dec. 7, 1941 - Dec. 31, 1946  If the veteran was  in service on Dec. 31, 1946, continuous service before July 26, 1947 is considered World War II service.

Korean Conflict  - June 27, 1950 - Jan 31, 1955

Vietnam Era  -  Aug 5th, 1964  - May 7, 1975 In the case of the veteran that served in the Republic of Vietnam starting Feb. 8, 1961 the earlier starting date applies.

2) The discharge must be an honorable or general discharge. 

3) Must NEED aid and assistance,  be RECEIVING aid and assistance,  and     be PAYING for such aid.       
 If these conditions are met  the VA will place you in the same category with someone who is disabled.
